Patroclus

Tell me is it worse to mourn a lover lost
Or to watch his spark dim, the sun's final toss
Beneath the summer sky
A serene decay
As light surrenders to the end of day

Could you bear to watch the man you love
Become a lethal weapon
Armour clinging from head to toe
Gleaming cruelly, possessively
Shielding him as he shields his wounded heart
From the tragedy that tore us both apart
And fuelled the desire to be reunited

Would it be different, do you think
If he had disfavoured his fate
Not submitted to his heroic claim
Would my broken heart still ache?
