His son crafted them all a feast
Flasks of rich, balmy wine
Blushed red as blood
Platters of steaming bread
Meat so tender it looked forbidden
Demeter, with a distracted look
Took an absent minded bite
But Zeus remained solemn
Fury creasing his brow
For torn apart and cut with care
A butchered son in warm wet pieces
Slaughterer spattered with blood of kin
Cursed thereafter with everlasting hunger
And a burning thirst that scalded his skin.
