Prometheus

He gifted you the flame's embrace
Let it crackle on wood with kindness and grace
Yet as it danced homes turned to cinder
Steal their lives with a silent whisper

And from the forge comes sturdy metal
To guard, protect, old conflicts settle
Yet in its might a cruel cold kiss
Mangle warm bodies you know will be missed

He bestowed you all a gift to take
Which stirred in the others uncompromising hate
And penalised him for all to see
Made him pay for what came to be

Let him weep alone in starless night
No recoil from the daunting sight
Upon the place where eagles flock
His liver theirs to feast and pluck

Left alone, in silence, to rot,
A tale of gifts and a heavy cost.
