Icarus

Let him be a lesson, stark and bold

Never to look beyond your goal
To fix your gaze on distant sights
Lest you meet peril in ambitious heights

A tale woven in sorrow’s thread
A cherished son, by fate misled
His father, the author of his demise
With fallen feathers and shattered skies

Promising wings that dares aspire
To fuel young Icarus’ desire
Enjoy the taste of pure delight
On foreign shores in freedom’s flight

But poor Icarus sought heights out of reach
Too ambitious, too proud for wisdom to teach
In the fiery gaze of the sun’s melting face
His wings met their end in her tragic embrace.
